Strands
Strands are overarching categories of Professional Development to help guide employees to program offerings.

Career path support begins with orienting new hires and continues throughout the promotion process. Programming focuses on specific skill requirements that are necessary to progress to the next level in the DAS career ladder. It also includes topics that support our work including leadership, time management, communication skills, technical competencies and more.

This strand is focused on principles of equity, diversity, cultural and linguistic diversity, representation, inclusion, community, and belonging. It also includes the examination of social mobility, internalized biases and supremacy, systems, and dynamics of oppression, marginalization, and stereotyping.

This strand offers programs to educate staff on best practices to reduce their risk of overuse injury. Self-care, vicarious trauma, and topics related to overall health and well-being are also offered.

The heart of interpreting work! This strand includes language fluency in ASL and English, mental processing of the message, and management of the discourse.

Interpreters are mentored and provide mentoring related to content, interpreting practice, cognitive processing, and language. Programming includes best practices in mentoring students, apprentices, and colleagues as well as opportunities to be mentored.

This strand relates to academic and non-academic content areas and the unique demands placed on postsecondary access service providers.

Content in this strand focuses on skills including typing speed, dictionary development, learning new software and technology, and processing strategies for condensing information. This Strand is for RTC-NT staff members and is populated and monitored by RTC-NT staff members.
